The Land Rover Defender (initially called the Land Rover Ninety and Land Rover One Ten) is a British four-wheel-drive off-road utility vehicle developed from the original Land Rover Series launched in 1948. The model was introduced in 1983 as the "Land Rover Ninety" and theDoes anyone know definatively what the differences are between the later TD5 110 Rover axle (ie non Salisbury type) and the "normal Rover type as used in 300 tdi Discos and defender 90s. Is it simply the 4 pin P38 type diff centre and spring seats or is there any other differences like strengthened tubes, re-enforcements, bigger brakes etc!!
The TD4 is commonly used to refer to a 2.2l 4cyl PSA derived engine used in the freelander and various fords. And the 2.2 "Puma" engine, which was the last engine used in a classic defender. The Td5 is from a BMW collaboration project, and is a 2.5l 5 cylinder turbo diesel. IMO, it's the best one of the lot (I'm biased).
